So, my debut book Secret Lies was released by BSB in December 2013. The ebook is out in the UK now, and paper copies are available from amazon from Jan 18th 2014. Please feel free to check out the three review links at the bottom of this post.
I found writing the book to be a very solitary experience. As the release date approached, I began to seriously panic and feel weirdly vulnerable. It’s one thing writing for enjoyment, but writing for other people’s enjoyment is something completely different. There are some gritty themes addressed throughout the story and so I had to try and accept that some readers just wouldn’t be a fan. As always, that’s easier said than done…although I do think I’m getting better at it.
As we said goodbye to 2013 and welcomed in 2014 I made time to reflect. For me, it was a truly incredible year. I married the love of my life! I also had my first book published and signed contracts for the next two–not bad going, even if I do say so myself. But what struck me more than anything was how lucky I’ve been. At times I’ve honestly been overwhelmed by the incredible support I’ve received from BSB, family, and both new and old friends (some of whom I’ve only met through social media). Although amazing overall, I did find parts of the experience a little daunting and having people there really helped. I consider myself very privileged and hope that everyone who has supported me during the last year knows how grateful I am. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I wish you all a fabulous 2014 that’s filled with love, laughter, and good health.
